    • Awesome design outside and inside, some nice innovations and impressive specs overall. However, I think you are a bit over excited as, in my view: - it looks compact but in fact it is quite big - claimed range/consumption slightly worse than VW ID4 - prices are apparently not very attractive

  • This is what happens when you point an actual car designer at the problem and tell them to go to town rather than a 6 year old yank with crayons (Tesla) - you get something that looks utterly stunning, with compelling engineering that can be mass-produced. The 45k is still a little shocking (though not that much for what you get) but it makes Tesla look like what they are; doomed to inevitable failure. The second hand market for these is going to be a sight to see.

  • Fantastic. I will be perfectly honest and say I'm looking at Porsche. However I'm holding back until this car and others are out. It's worth the wait. I love the concept of this car. Real wold km or miles here in the UK matter. Saying that if I want to go on an extra long journey it will be my 1.6 twin turbo, wait for it, Renault Trafic crew van which is awesome. Cheers.

  • Hyundai needs to do away with leather interiors. Tesla, Polestar and even the Mustang Mach E are all vegan. The Porsche Taycan also has a leather vegan option, but Hyundai still uses leather on the Ioniq electric and the Ioniq 5.

  • İt seans like a lot of buyers waiting for market to settle for a lot of new all electric cars being introduced every month and buyers are unsure which ones to stay for good. Price point is also very high currently. I think who ever can produce a sedan at about 30k price range with a minimum 300 miles range is a candidate to be a leader in the market.

  • In Norway, they tested all EV and Ioniq 5 came in first with during cold weather, it lost 10% range but Tesla lost 20% range because Hyundai had better heat pump system. Not all EV comes with heat pump system to perform better with range during cold weather.

  • Hopefully they use them lights on the real thing. The charge time is quite impressive. would it not make more sense for a for all manufacturers to use the same battery which is fitted under the car all the same perhaps different sizes for obviously reasons but instead of plugging it in and waiting for however long it might take but go to a battery station and swop the battery with a already charged one. By doing this effectively the battery is loaned and surly a slower charge will help make theses battery's last longer?

Car manufacturers recall hundreds of thousands of cars all the time for a wide variety of reasons. "wait till the smoke starts pouring out" Hyundai recalled 82,000 electric cars because of 15 reports of fires. That's just over 0.02% of the cars. Stop getting your "information" from people who don't have a clue.

  • I dont think the long charge comments are a troll. Its a genuine concern for 90% of people in the UK who live in homes without driveways or even parking or at minimum access only to a standard 3 point plug socket. Which can take a golden age to charge a car. And you even said it yourself in the video "If you can find one of these fast chargers" if isnt what you want to hear when you need more range/full fast.

  • This thing is beautiful and brilliantly designed platform. I have many question that won't be answered until consumers test it. like: Overnight camper mode running the AC when it's 80F outside? Can you run the AC while charging? How many watts can that solar roof put back in the car? Enough to run the AC? How many amps/watts can the 110v plugs put out? A cargo van (taller with no side/back windows or seats and sliding doors) with this footprint and a much bigger solar roof and I will have to upgrade.

  • Australia is still the land of the ICE as state governments introduce new taxes on EV's. No Australian state governments give would be EV buyers any incentive to own an EV. There is no reduced price (government incentives) and Australians who do buy an EV pay the full purchase price and the cheapest EV to own is a Nissan Leaf at over 60K and the rest are even more expensive. This ensures that the ICE remains the dominant form of propulsion in motor vehicles for some time to come. Even if an Aussie buys a new EV and then later sells it, they have to remove the battery pack as it's illegal to sell an EV secondhand with it's original battery pack. So the new owner not only has to buy the car but he/she has to fork out big additional money for a new battery pack plus the cost of it's installation.

As part of the collaboration, Canoo will provide engineering services to help develop a fully scalable, all-electric platform to meet Hyundai and Kia specifications. Hyundai Motor Group expects the platform to help facilitate its commitment to delivering cost-competitive electrified vehicles - ranging from small-sized EVs to Purpose Built Vehicles (PBV) - that meet diverse customer needs. Canoo, a Los Angeles based company creating EVs for subscription only, offers a skateboard platform which houses the most critical components of the vehicle with a strong emphasis on functional integration, meaning all components fulfill as many functions as possible. This feat of engineering reduces the skateboard size, weight and total number of parts, which ultimately provides more interior cabin space and a more cost-effective EV offering. In addition, the Canoo skateboard is a self-contained unit that can be paired with any cabin design. Hyundai Motor Group expects an adaptable all-electric platform using Canoo’s scalable skateboard architecture to allow for a simplified and standardized development process for Hyundai and Kia electrified vehicles, which is expected to help reduce cost that can be passed along to consumers. Hyundai Motor Group also expects to reduce complexity of its EV assembly line, allowing for rapid response to changing market demands and customer preferences. Canoo’s proprietary skateboard architecture, which directly houses the batteries and electric drivetrain, has enabled Canoo to reimagine EV design in a way that challenges traditional automotive shape and functionality. Canoo reached Beta testing phase within 19 months of inception, and the company recently opened the waitlist for its first vehicle. This is a major milestone for the company and the culmination of the efforts of 300+ experts working to deliver a proof of concept of Canoo’s backbone architectural systems.   • After seeing an accredited news program about the high number of Hyundai and Kia engine fires, I would NOT consider buying either brand of automobile. That said, I hold out hope that I wouldn’t need to call the Fire Department if I did buy one of their electric vehicles in the future. Their shoddy response to the engine fire problem, however, does not instil much confidence about either brand moving forward.

Brousseau "After seeing a credited news program about the high number of Hyundai and Kia engine fires" There are two things wrong with this statement. 1st off, other car manufacturers have other problems that can be just as deadly as an engine fire. Problems with brakes can be just as catastrophic as fires. But secondly, you even make the point that an electric car does not have a gas engine. I can only hope that you and others continue to think this way. I've owned two Kias, and have enjoyed two really good cars for a lot less than some of the competition, specifically because people like you think they are crap.

  • Why are so many people so excited about a car the produces about the same carbon emissions that a combustion engine? Electric vehicles, how is electricity made? Power plants, coal burning thirsty power plants! If you think its solar or wind, sorry, wind dies down at night and there is no sun at night when your car would be charging. Actually an electric car takes more energy to produce and build in an automotive plant, the physical items that produce the batteries are more toxic to the environment when they are junk and need to be scrapped. So what's the deal? Really, I am really confused with this, and I am an automotive engineer and have worked at General Motors for 10 years.

  • Not bad Hyundai, not bad. Externally it looks good. I'll withhold judgment on the full package when we see how the software and infotainment works, which is were many brands drop the ball. For me it's a year too late since I just bought a Tesla, but I'm glad to see other good looking models appearing now.

  • I like it, but the name in English is bad design. "I" has 2 different sounds. Mixed feelings about the "q" . Why not a "k"? Anyway, the English spelling system is a mess. It has thousands of those quirks. Case in point! It is so bad it delays learning to read by at least two years compared to other languages that have a transparent orthography like Finnish or Spanish according to the research AND most people don't care. No one would drive a car with that many faulty parts, let alone hand the keys to their kids! Why the disconnect? Bad democracies?
